Itinerary

Upon arrival at Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKA), our team will be there to greet you and transfer you to Polur or Rinhe village, situated at an altitude of about 2400m on the mountainside of Damavand (almost 140km and 2:30h away). After settling into your private camp or I.R Mountaineering and Sport Climbing Federation camp, you'll begin your trekking adventure, which takes approximately two hours to reach the first accommodation site called Gusfand-Sara, situated at an altitude of about 3050m. Please note that transportation between villages to Gusfand-Sara is available by 4WD vehicles, and accommodation will be in two-person tents. We recommend leaving any unnecessary equipment at the safe storage in I.R Mountaineering and Sport Climbing Federation based in Polur district.

After a proper breakfast, prepare to climb towards the base camp (Bargah-Sevom) at an altitude of about 4200m. Depending on your physical fitness, the climb takes 4-6 hours. While resting in Barqah-Sevom, you'll enjoy the dazzling scenery of Doberar ridge and Lar plane and watch clouds forming and disappearing at the summit. For acclimatization purposes, we recommend that you rest adequately before slowly ascending and descending 400-600m. Depending on your physical fitness, this process takes 3-4 hours. After completing this activity, you can enjoy a delicious dinner and rest until the following day. Please note that mules are available for those who prefer a lighter hike and want their luggage transported from Gusfand-Sara to the base camp (Bargah-Sevom). Accommodation at the base camp is available in either a dormitory or private room, based on your request, or in a two-person tent. During the high season, the base camp (Bargah-Sevom) can become crowded, so we recommend sleeper tents for those who are sensitive to noise and crowds.

After enjoying a nutritious breakfast at 4 am, you'll pack your backpack with the necessary requirements and leave any unnecessary luggage at the base camp. Then, you'll begin your ascent towards Mt. Damavand summit, which is situated at an altitude of about 5671m (4:30 am). Depending on your physical fitness, the climb usually takes 6-8 hours. Upon reaching the summit, you'll have approximately 20-30 minutes to take photos, rest, explore the volcano crater, and enjoy the breathtaking view of the Caspian Sea before beginning your descent to the base camp (Bargah-Sevom), which takes about 2-3 hours. For the remainder of the day, you can rest, sleep, take memorial photos, exchange information and experiences with other mountaineers, and enjoy the stunning scenery.

After enjoying a proper breakfast at 6 am, you'll pack up your equipment and begin your descent towards Gusfand-Sara, which usually takes 2-3 hours. A 4WD vehicle will be waiting for you to transfer you to the Polur or Rineh village or I.R Mountaineering and Sport Climbing Federation camp. After taking a shower, resting, and packing up your belongings, you'll return to Tehran or IKA. Note that for those who prefer a lighter hike, mules are available to carry luggage from the base camp (Bargah-Sevom) to Gusfand-Sara.
