Mt. Damavand summit (5671M) is the highest volcano in Asia and the Middle East. Beside this international fame, Mt. Damavand is of great value for Iranians and the local people. Many poets have song about this legendry mountain throughout history. It is the symbol of resistance, glory, power, mythology, and stability in Iranian literature. Each year many mountaineers enjoy climbing the summit of this wonderful mountain. Damavand Climbng Tour offers you an opportunity to get adventurous on the highest summit of Iran.
Our Team will greet you at the time of Arriving at Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKA) and transfer you to Polur or Rinhe village with an altitude of about 2400m and the mountainside of Damavand (Almost 140km and 2:30h away). After resting enough at private houses or I.R Mountaineering and Sport Climbing Federation camp, you will pack up the necessitous requirements and begin trekking about two hours to reach the first accommodation site called Gusfand-Sara in an altitude of about 3050m.
Note 1: 4WD vehicles are available for transferring between villages to Gusfand-Sara.
Note 2: The accommodation is done by two-person tents.
Note 3: Leave the unnecessary equipment at safe storages in I.R Mountaineering and Sport Climbing Federation based in Polur district.
After having a proper breakfast, prepare to climb toward the base camp (Bargah-Sevom) about an altitude of 4200m. Depending on your physical fitness, it takes 4-6 hour. While resting in Barqah-Sevom, you can enjoy the dazzling scenery of Doberar ridge and Lar plane and watch clouds forming and disappearing in the summit. For acclimatization, after resting enough, start to climb and descend 400-600m very slowly. Depending on your physical fitness, it takes 3-4 hour. Then have dinner and rest until the next day.
Note 1: For those who want to hike lightly, there are mules available for carrying luggage from Gusfand-Sara to the base camp (Bargah-Sevom).
Note 2: The accommodation is held in the base camp (dormitory and private room on request) or two-person tent, based on your preference.
Note 3: Base camp (Brgah-Sevom) might be overcrowded in high season, so if you are too sensitive, sleeper tents are more comfortable for you.
After having a nutritious breakfast (4 am), packing up the backpack with the necessitous requirements and leaving the unnecessary luggage at the base camp, you will start climbing toward Mt. Damavand summit in an altitude of about 5671m (4:30 am). Depending on your physical fitness, it usually takes 6-8 hour. After about 20-30 minutes of staying upon the highest summit of the Middle East for taking photos, resting, enjoying the exploration of the volcano crater, and watching the Caspian Sea, etc. you will descend to the base camp (Bargah-Sevom); it takes about 2-3 hours. The rest of the day is yours to rest, sleep, take a memorial photo, share your info and experience with other mountaineers, enjoy the beautiful scenery, hang around, etc.
After having a proper breakfast (6 am), you will pack up the equipment and descend to Gusfand-Sara; usually it takes 2-3 hour. The 4WD vehicle will be waiting for you to transfer you to the Polur or Rineh village or I.R Mountaineering and Sport Climbing Federation camp. After taking shower, resting, and packing up your stuff, you will return to Tehran or IKA.
